Each of us has the power to hold our nation accountable for the hunger that exists in our midst.
Despite the great abundance of our nation, we have failed to assure that every American is adequately fed.
That is why Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC is an active participant in anti-hunger advocacy
and critical public discussions of poverty-related issues.

We seek not only to immediately alleviate hunger through distribution of food and grocery products to people
in need, but also to solve the problem of hunger in the long-term through public education and advocating
changes to programs and policies that support low-income Americans and ultimately end hunger.

In collaboration with our six sister America’s Second Harvest members in North Carolina, the Second
Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC employs a government relations staff member to stay informed of
legislative issues related to the food industry, welfare reform and other poverty-related issues.
