Kids Cafes

Remember as a kid how hungry you were when you got home from school?
Now imagine coming home and not having enough to eat to stop those hunger pains.

Kids Cafes eliminate this poignant moment for participating low-income children. A program of America's Second Harvest, The Nation's Food Bank Network, Kids Cafes provide an evening meal and enrichment activities three nights a week in a safe and nurturing environment.

Kids Cafes located in northwest North Carolina are made possible through collaborative partnerships between the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC and interested community groups.

With the help of generous donors, the Second Harvest Food Bank provides a cook's salary, technical assistance, volunteer recruitment support and much of the food served at each site. Community partners provide a location and volunteers to manage the day-to-day operations of the program.

Our organization currently operates four Kids Cafes in Winston-Salem in collaboration with Green Street United Methodist Church, the YMCA's Outreach Services Hispanic Achievers Program, Parkway United Church of Christ, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, North Winston-Baptist Church and area public housing communities. Plans are underway to expand the program in Forsyth County and into Guilford County.

You can make a difference in the life of a child. We invite you to support Kids Cafes with your time – serving meals or tutoring youth, with your donations of supplies or with your financial donation.
