Feed Your Soul with a Bowl at Empty Bowls

Empty Bowls is Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC's Annual Signature event presented by Texas Pete Sauces. Held each year in April on Administrative Professionals' Day, this awareness and fundraising event is one of the most anticipated events of the season in Winston-Salem, offering great food prepared and donated by area restaurants, live music with One String Over and a fabulous silent auction.

For a donation of $25 in advance or $30 at the door, guests enjoy a savory soup lunch, complete with salad, fresh bread, dessert and a drink, and get to choose a handcrafted bowl pottery designed and donated by area artists to take home. Soup selections are not served in the bowls. Rather, they remain empty during the event as a reminder of those in need who face ‘empty bowls’ every day.

Proceeds benefit our food distribution program, which operates to transport, collect, inspect, sort and distribute donated food to nearly 400 non-profit organizations dedicated to feeding people at risk of hunger and others in need. Proceeds also benefit our Childhood Hunger programs, feeding hungry children locally.

Thanks to all sponsors, lunch donors, bowl donors, celebrity servers and volunteers for a very successful Empty Bowls 2010. Stay tuned for information about Empty Bowls 2011!
