Lowes Foods, American Premium Beverage and Yellowtail
Team Up to Provide Food to Hungry Families

Winston-Salem, NC (September 21, 2009)– Lowes Foods, American Premium Beverage and Yellowtail have donated 7100 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC as a result of a recent in-store promotion. For every bottle of Yellowtail wine purchased in Lowes Foods stores in the Piedmont Triad during the month of August, American Premium Beverage and Yellowtail donated $1.00.  The donations were used to purchase food from Lowes Foods stores which was delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank.

American Premium Beverage and Yellowtail donated a total of $7200, which resulted in 7100 pounds of food donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. This equates to feeding a family of 4 three meals a day for over a year.

Clyde Fitzgerald, Second Harvest Food Bank executive director said, “Second Harvest Food Bank is grateful for this generous support from Lowes Foods, American Premium Beverage and Yellowtail. Although food donations have increased over one million pounds in the past year, the sustained 76 percent increase in demand has totally outstripped supply. Today, 250,000 people in our 18-county service area, including more than 80,000 children, cannot say for sure where their next meal is coming from.  This donation will help ensure that children and their parents who have run out of food due to grave financial circumstances will be fed.”
