Second Harvest Food Bank's National Organization Gets a New Name Since 1985, Second Harvest Food Bank has been a proud member of a collaborative and coordinated network of more than 200 food banks united nationally and operating locally, serving every community in the nation to get food to those who need it. For many years, this national network has gone by the name... America ’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network. Why the national name change? Despite a 30-year legacy of fighting hunger, America ’s Second Harvest's nationwide efforts in the fight against hunger have had low awareness among the general public. Knowing that true, monumental progress can be made when the public is fully engaged in creating hunger-free communities, and after almost two years of research, the decision has been made to change the national brand identity to Feeding America™. The new name, Feeding America, directly conveys that, collectively, member food banks across the nation are providing access to food for people who need it. It also communicates the positive power of food to be a catalyst in people’s lives. In essence, “feeding” serves as a double meaning—both providing food and enriching lives. Will Second Harvest Food Bank change it's name?
