2009 Texas Pete Twin City RibFest attendees
given incentive to bring food for the hungry

Winston-Salem, NC-- June 5, 2009-- Despite the tough economy, there remains an inexpensive entertainment value for Triad residents this summer that they can enjoy and help the less fortunate at the same time. TW Garner Food Company (maker of Texas Pete Hot Sauce) and AKA  Entertainment & Media have partnered to offer discounted admission  to the Fifth Annual Texas Pete Twin City RibFest at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds June 11-14, 2009. The effort is expected to help supply Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina with much needed non-perishable food. 

Anyone that brings a can of food to this year’s RibFest will be entitled to $2 off the regular $6 admission all four days of the event. "We at Texas Pete are excited about our third year as the title sponsor of the Twin City RibFest says Glenn Garner, Director of Marketing at TW Garner Food Company. This year, we are especially proud to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina in an effort do something for the community that has been so good to us for the past 80 years.”

To underscore the urgency of need, Clyde Fitzgerald, Executive Director of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC said, “Our network of partner agencies tells us that the demand for food assistance from their clients is at an average 76% increase over last year. We need the community’s help by donating food, money and time, and we appreciate Texas Pete Twin City RibFest’s support and involvement to help us reduce hunger in the communities we serve.”
